The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) is committed to  delivering a full range of safe, convenient, reliable, and efficient transportation choices for the community. With a focus on long-term sustainability, the RTC provides transportation services, planning, and funding for all travel modes. With the passage of Measure D, a sales tax measure, the RTC will now be delivering infrastructure projects as well. We will continue working with the community to maintain the existing transportation network as well as prepare for the transportation needs of the next generation.

Storm Damage Site 5 is located near Wilder Ranch State Park north of Santa Cruz. The project will repair the damaged slope embankment on the east side of the rail line which occurred as a result of the 2017 storms. Adjacent to the damage there is an existing 30 inch reinforced concrete culvert which may have contributed to the failure of the embankment. A Right of Entry Agreement is currently under production for the site, and will be in place prior to the start of the project.

Storm Damage Site 3 is located adjacent to Sumner Avenue in Aptos. The project will repair the damaged slope embankment on the east side of the rail line which occurred as a result of the 2017 storms. Adjacent to the damage there is an existing 2 foot wide by 1 foot tall wood box cross culvert that needs replacement due to poor drainage through the right of way. A Right of Entry Agreement is currently under production for the site, and will be in place prior to the start of the project.

The project is intended to address storm damage as a result of the 2017 storms at two sites in Santa Cruz County. Storm Damage Site 4 is located in Aptos near Harriet Avenue. The project will repair the drainage ditch on the east side of the rail line. The repair includes realigning and grading the ditch to reestablish the drainage pattern, and add rock slope protection and erosion control measures to prevent future erosion from occurring. Storm Damage Site 6 is located north of Santa Cruz near Three Mile Beach. The project will repair the damaged slope embankment and regrade the existing ditches north and south of an existing cross culvert which eroded as a result of the 2017 storms. Rock slope protection and erosion control measures will be added to prevent future erosion from occurring.

The proposed repair is for 2 storm-damaged slope embankment washouts of the Santa Cruz Branch Railroad line, that was damaged during the heavy rains in early 2017 (DR 4308). The work will include repairs to storm damage sites 1 and 2 to construct new cross culverts and repair the railbed and drainage facilities as described below: Mobilization; Staging Area Setup; Implementation on Erosion and Sediment Control Best Management Practices (BMP); Clearing & Grubbing; Grading, excavation, backfill, etc.; Removal of existing culvert at Site 1; Installation of a 48” RCP, headwall, endwall, and wingwalls at Site 1; Installation of a double box (each 4’ by 6’) reinforced concrete culvert, headwall, endwall, and wingwalls at Site 2; Erosion Control; Rock Slope Protection; Railbed repairs (includes sub-ballast, ballast, ties, rails, and joints); Replanting; Auxiliary work shown on the plans and as directed by engineer; All construction activities including any temporary staging shall occur within the RTC right of way unless directed otherwise by the engineer; Final cleanup; Project Closeout.

Fabricate over 560 sign panels and over 185 posts. The contractor will be responsible for fabrication of all materials as well as installation of signage at approximately 260 locations in the City of Santa Cruz, the City of Scotts Valley and the unincorporated area of the County of Santa Cruz. The Cities of Capitola and the Watsonville will install signage within their jurisdiction.
