The project includes the installation of one (1) potable water groundwater well, development and construction of the well, and design and construction of all appurtenances such as the submersible pump system, drop piping, pitless adapter, and sanitary seal well cap. The project will require six (6) potable water system connections using open trench and horizontal directional drilling methods. The water system shall include all necessary treatment, as required by PADEP. The project will include the assembly of a water storage tank and associated telemetry. The project will also include proper abandonment of the existing six (6) groundwater wells, associated water pipes and valves, (4) sewer manholes, and sewer pipe. The project will require modifications to be made to the existing public restroom and electrical work.

The new pedestrian structure will consist of a single span steel rolled beam bridge with a timber deck set atop new beam seats.

Bowman’s Hill Wastegate is a two-span rolled steel I-beam bridge with
a total length of 33’. The existing superstructure will be replaced with
rolled steel I-beams and a nail-laminated timber deck.
c. Repair any voids in and repoint the existing stone masonry pier,
abutments, and wingwalls. Rebuild the concrete bridge seats.
d. Rebuild the concrete wastegate floor and install cutoff walls at the
upstream and downstream.
e. Underpin the areas of undermining of the wastegate floor and
wingwalls.
f. Replace the timber wastegate doors and paint and lubricate the
existing wastegate gears, gear lock and axles.
g. Install R-6 rip-rap rock protection at the outlet.

Concrete Cantilever Abutments that will provide a 13’-2 ¼” clear roadway
width between the PA Type 10M Bridge Barriers. Replacement includes
driving surface aggregate and rock lining.
c. Construction of PA Type 10M Bridge Barrier, measured from end of structure to end of structure.
d. Construction of a temporary crossing at approximately 60’ south of the bridge site to maintain access to the eastern canal berm.
e. Reconstruction of the stone masonry retaining wall located along the west berm of the canal.
