The new pedestrian structure will consist of a single span steel rolled beam bridge with a timber deck set atop new beam seats.

Canal Towpath over Delaware Canal
Bowman’s Hill Wastegate is a two-span rolled steel I-beam bridge with
a total length of 33’. The existing superstructure will be replaced with
rolled steel I-beams and a nail-laminated timber deck.
c. Repair any voids in and repoint the existing stone masonry pier,
abutments, and wingwalls. Rebuild the concrete bridge seats.
d. Rebuild the concrete wastegate floor and install cutoff walls at the
upstream and downstream.
e. Underpin the areas of undermining of the wastegate floor and
wingwalls.
f. Replace the timber wastegate doors and paint and lubricate the
existing wastegate gears, gear lock and axles.
g. Install R-6 rip-rap rock protection at the outlet.
