2026 HOME ROAD PLANT FIBER BUILD 1.1 Scope: The City of Columbus, Department of Technology is receiving bids until June 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM local time, for construction services for the 2026 Home Road Plant Fiber Build project. Bids are to be submitted only at www.bidexpress.com. The project involves running a new 288 strand fiber optic cable from the Columbus Traffic Signal System at the intersection of Sawmill Road and Summit View Road West to the “meet-up” manhole for the Administration Building of the new Home Road Water Plant located at 5993 Home Road. In addition to this main trunk cable there will be several additional sites that, using 24 fiber optic strand cable drops will also have fiber connections made, those being the Summit View Water Tower at 3995 Summit View Road, the O'Shaughnessy Dams West Gatehouse, which will also connect the O’Shaughnessy Substation at 5959 Glick Road and the dams Powerhouse located at the base of the dam, the Division of Water’s facilities in the Center Gatehouse on the O’Shaughnessy Dam, and the Boating Education Facility at 9610 Riverside Drive. These new fiber optic cables will be placed to enable the City to provide fiber optic connections to serve the data networks, the security cameras, SCADA systems, and any Wi-Fi networks of the Department of Public Utilities and the Recreation and Parks Department. It will also position us to create a bi-directional fiber optic connection to serve these facilities from two different data centers and open up new avenues for future expansion to other future sites in the northwest quadrant of the city such as the Columbus Zoo and a township fire station.
