Ultraviolet Light Disinfection Equipment Replacement
The City of Aurora intends to purchase a complete and fully functional ultraviolet light disinfection system for the Aurora Central WWTP.
The Aurora Central WWTP provides UV disinfection using a dated Fisher, Bailey, Porter system from 1997, which was rebuilt approximately 15 years ago. While the system continues to function in an acceptable manner, spare parts are no longer readily available. Given its age, the system is recognized as being at the end of its useful life.
ALL BIDDERS must submit product details to mccoys@auroraoh.com of the proposed ultraviolet light disinfection equipment by Tuesday, October 17th. The city will review the proposed equivalent equipment before October 24th allowing time for the manufacturer to submit a formal bid. If additional review time is necessary, the city reserves the right to extend the bid deadline.
The city's budget for the equipment is $200,000.00.
Please note, a bid bond is NOT required for this procurement solicitation.

Aerobic Sludge Digestion Tank Sludge Removal
The City of Aurora, Ohio operates the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at 264 N. Chillicothe Road, Aurora, OH 44202. A new aerobic sludge digestion tank system has been erected on site and has become operational. The existing steel digestion tank, built in 1969, is to be demolished as part of the Central WWTP Sludge Digestion and Solids Handling Project. The City of Aurora is soliciting competitive bids to remove and dispose of sludge contents from the existing aerobic digestion tank prior to decommissioning in an environmentally responsible manner, compliant with all Ohio EPA requirements for Class B sludge, not to exceed $120,000.00.
Contractors are strongly encouraged to attend the pre-bid meeting scheduled on August 29, 2023 at 10AM. During that time, bidders will have an opportunity to measure the dimensions of the tank, verify work areas, and sample sludge, which is believed to vary in concentration at deeper depths.
THE CITY IS REQUESTING PRICING FOR THE SERVICES REQUESTED IN THE DETAILED SPECIFICATION. A BID BOND NOR MAINTENANCE BOND WILL REQUIRED AS THIS IS A ONE-TIME SERVICE, NOT A CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT. THIS IS NOT A PREVAILING WAGE JOB.

The equalization basin is an earthen basin lined with a synthetic liner. The basin is separated into two separate cells. Cell #1 has a capacity of 1.0 MG, and Cell #2 has a capacity of 2.0 MG. Currently the Drain Valve to Cell #2 is inoperable stuck in a semi open position. The valve for Cell #1 is operational, but it is near the end of its useful life.
The valves are 12-inch plug valves and direct buried approximately 13 feet below ground surface. It is not possible for city personnel to maintain these valves without deep excavation.
