The project is an addition and partial renovation to the existing recreation center located in Forest Community Park. The major components of the project are the relocation of the entry, new multipurpose rooms, new restroom facilities, and the addition of an HVAC system to the existing gymnasium.

SB 1658 Zoo Asphalt & Drainage
This project consists of the following work items:
• Maintenance Access Road Improvements: 1.5-in asphalt overlay of approximately 760-ft of the existing maintenance access road (approximately 20-ft wide), with integrated speed bumps; Removal of existing stone base and surface course and replace with 7-in limestone base and 3-in asphalt overlay with an inverted crown (roadway section approx. 280-ft long by 20-ft wide); Grading, placement and striping of a new 200-ft by 20-ft asphalt parking apron.
• Zoo Entry/Exit Road Improvements: Removal of approximately 330-sy of existing asphalt (south of the existing zoo entry gate) and construction of a new turnaround drive, including limestone base, 3” asphalt overlay, signage and striping. Install 6 new drainage inlet structures and approximately 1000-ft of 12-in CMP drainage pipe. Drainage will run from the zoo’s entry gate to Cypress Bayou. Approximately 900-sy of clearing and grubbing will be required to install the drainage. Zoo entry/exit road improvements also include an asphalt overlay of the existing crossover road between the entry and exit drives, approximately 250-sy.
• Maintenance Access Road Improvements (Add Alternate): 1.5-in asphalt overlay of approximately 380-ft of the existing maintenance access road (approximately 20-ft wide).

SB 1659 - Renovations to Gus Young Park
The work of this contract consists of renovations and additions to the existing facility. The new addition will be constructed to match the existing building type of brick exterior veneer and CMU interior. Renovations include installation of new retrofit standing seam roof on the existing gymnasium and new standing seam roofing of the existing offices, activity area and new addition. Existing CMU walls are being reconfigured to create ADA compliant restrooms and to accommodate a handicap lift. New thermal aluminum windows are being installed at the existing and new addition, along with new VCT flooring, epoxy flooring, CMU walls, gypsum board ceilings and acoustic ceiling tiles. Perforated metal image screens will be used at the storefront windows. Existing and addition will receive new HVAC with raised outside units.
