CPA E112 Renovations
The Center for Performing Arts is home to many Kent State programs including the Glauser School of Music (SOM.). Recent projects have freed up space within the building, and the SOM is working to better utilize these opportunities. The primary renovation scope will focus on room E112. This 1,800 square feet room with integral risers and smaller adjoining practice spaces. It has outdated finishes and needs acoustical improvements to serve as a potential secondary performance venue. This project will also provide an acoustic evaluation of existing and proposed SOM spaces to meet accreditation needs and help define additional renovation scope. Renovations will primarily be fit/finish and acoustical improvements.
Interested parties may attend a pre-proposal meeting on Friday August 30, 2024 at 10:00am in room 102 Harbourt Hall, 615 Loop Road Kent, Ohio. This brief meeting will be followed by a brief tour.

Project Description:
The Eastway Residence Hall Complex consists of (4) Residence Halls with a central Dining/Student Life Building. This project is limited to the (4) Residence Halls –Allyn, Clark, Manchester and Fletcher. These buildings were originally constructed in the late 1950s. In 2006, the antiquated toilet exhaust system was replaced with new exhaust fans. From 2013 through 2015, the student rooms upgraded the original convectors to a four-pipe fan coil system to provide air conditioning. Ventilation was provided via operable windows. These buildings have an extremely negative pressurization which has led to high humidity levels. Kent State received a ventilation study from Scheeser Buckley Mayfield, Inc. in December 2022. That report will be provided to the shortlisted DB teams. This project will provide new rooftop units to supply make-up air that addresses ventilation and dehumidification needs. Air will be distributed to the corridors. Structural modifications are anticipated at the roof line along with new shafts and soffits.
A pre-submittal meeting will take place on Tuesday August 27, 2024 at 9:00am at Kent State University Office of the University Architect, Conference Room 102, 615 Loop Road Suite 101 Harbourt Hall, Kent, Ohio 44242.
