Findlay, Ohio ODNR Grant RFP
The City of Findlay, Ohio – proudly known as “Flag City, USA” – is the county seat of Hancock County and a vibrant community in northwest Ohio. With roots in the oil and gas boom of the 1880s, Findlay has grown into a regional center for business, education, and culture, while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and quality of life. In 1978, Findlay City Council established the Shade Tree Commission to help manage the city’s aging urban forest. For more than four decades, Findlay has been recognized as a Tree City USA and has developed several key programs—including Adopt-A-Tree, Neighborwoods, and the Street Tree Program—aimed at maintaining and expanding the city’s tree canopy. In pursuit of tree equity and sustainable growth, the City was awarded funding through the Ohio Urban Forest Grant Program. As part of this initiative, the City is seeking a qualified part-time Urban Forester to work in coordination with the Engineering Department, Public Works Department, and Shade Tree Commission. The selected contractor will provide consulting services focused on improving canopy coverage in underserved neighborhoods and advancing the City’s broader Urban Forest Management goals as outlined in this RFP. Scope of work: To provide all labor, supervision, equipment, materials, and expertise required to provide Urban Forestry Consulting Services for the City of Findlay as specified. The work shall be performed by a company which derives the majority of its annual income from Urban Forestry consulting, and whose employees are highly trained and skilled in all phases of Urban Forest management.
