I. Background:
Gusting winds, debris impacts, and heavy rain, associated with Hurricane Laura, incurred damage to the motor starters/cabinets on wells G-8 and G-9 which are located at the N. Ryan and Railroad Ave well site associated with the Water Treatment Plant. The damage to the starters is to the point where functions of the systems no longer provide reliable operation and are in need of replacement. This project will serve to replace the starters, controls, and cabinets associated with Wells G-8 and G-9 and return the water system to its pre-storm operation. This project is necessary to ensure the City of Lake Charles is able to adequately provide reliable service to their consumers.
II. Scope of Work:
Implementation of electrical improvements, in response to damage incurred as a result of Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), to reinstate damaged well starters to their pre-storm condition, as well as, improve equipment installation in conformance with applicable codes and standards and improve the ability of the Owner to service and maintain the proposed equipment. This Work shall include:
• Removal and Disposal of Existing, Defective Starter Cabinets
• Installation of Pad-Mounted 2,300V to 480V Transformer
• Installation of Main Service Disconnect (per Entergy requirements)
• Installation of MCC with Starter Cabinets for Well Starters w/Soft Starts
• Installation of Service Disconnect for Each Starter (TYP of 2)
• Removal and Replacement of 150HP Well Motors (TYP of 2)
