This project proposes to remodel rooms 2003, 2110, 2116, 2118, 2124, and 2126 of the Human Nutritional Sciences Building (HNSB) to accommodate a Textiles Science Teaching Laboratory. A future project will include a first-floor remodel of HNSB to accommodate a Tearoom/Student-Run Restaurant (SRR). This project proposed to remodel approximately 2,417 gross square feet of the second floor of HNSB to a Textiles Science Teaching Laboratory (TSL). The TSL, temporarily located in Bessey Hall due to the rebuild of LeBaron Hall, will relocate to the new space. Work consists of demolition of interior space including existing walls, casework, equipment, and finishes. New work will include new walls, casework, fume hoods, finishes, and updated mechanical and electrical work to support the remodel.

This project includes, but is not limited, to the remodeling of existing bathrooms and an adjacent, vacant, resident assistant suite into an enlarged shared resident bathroom and a single-stall public bathroom. Also included is the redesign of an exterior entrance vestibule to create hallway space to provide integration of student housing areas. Two vacant resident rooms and corridors will also be remodeled to match standard modern dorm room finishes. Mechanical, ventilation, electrical, and plumbing upgrades will be made to accommodate all remodeled spaces.

This project includes, but is not limited to, the replacement of the existing roof systems at roof sections C, D, G, X, and W. All existing ballast, membranes, flashings, fiberboards, and insulation will be removed and replaced with a new, fully adhered, EPDM roof system with new insulation below. The new roof system is designed to have a minimum useful life expectancy of 30 years. New walk pads and appropriate safety equipment will also be included to meet university standards. The existing termination bar sealant at the perimeter of roof section D as well as the asphalt layer beneath roof sections X and W contain asbestos and will be properly abated.

This project will replace roof Section F and repair the parapet wall at MacKay Hall. This section of the roof is a built-up roof (BUR) and is over 25 years old with a history of leaks. This project includes, but is not limited to: • Replacement of the roof with a system designed for a minimum life expectancy of 30 years • Roof insulation to meet current energy codes • Roof safety improvements as needed to meet current university standards • Repair, tuckpointing, or caulking of all features, roof curbs, and parapet walls above the roofline to prevent water infiltration through these critical connections • Addition of a roof access door
